Dinner Out Past 6pm, A Much Needed Gym Session, A Relaxing Massage And A Movie? Count Me In! New Social Distancing Measures Begin Today, Feb 18th
It’s been a long few months of staying in and let’s face it, entertaining kids with no extracurricular activities has been challenging at best. As of today, kids can go back to some of their favourite pastimes and so can we. Hooray! Let us share the good news.

With a significant reduction in COVID cases (16 recorded yesterday) it’s time to relax Hong Kong’s strict social-distancing rules that we’ve become so used to of late. Here’s the latest.
What’s Open?
- All sports ground (indoor and outdoor)
- Beauty parlors
- Gyms
- Massage parlors
- Cinemas
- Amusement parks
- Video Game Centers
- Ice Skating Rinks
- Bowling Alleys
This means that we can (finally!) get the kids back into all their sports, watch a movie at The Grounds, check out the newly opened cinema in Kennedy Town, take advantage of free flowing drinks with a dinner tasting menu at the Pirata Group restaurants and even visit Disneyland.
What’s Still Shut?
- Bars
- Party Rooms
- Bathhouses
- Discos/Night Clubs
- Karaokes
- Mahjong Parlors
- Public Swimming Pools
- Beaches
- Children’s play facilities
- Children’s playrooms
- Barbecue sites
- PUI O Campsite
New Rules For Restaurants?
According to the latest Hong Kong social distancing rules, restaurants can now stay open until 10pm and a table of 4 is allowed. So, what are you waiting for? Go enjoy a dinner out as a family and celebrate the fact that you don’t have to eat at 5pm anymore! Just remember to double-check what time the venue’s last call for food is to avoid disappointment.
What’s Involved With Enjoying All This Good Stuff?
- Wear a mask
- Check temperature to gain entry
- Hand sanitizer must be available
- We still have to be socially distanced
- Use the Leave Home Safe app or provide your last name, phone number and the time you enter and exit the premises. Records will be kept for 31 days.
- Staff members of these venues are tested every 14 days.
What’s Next?
The government will apply to the executive council to loosen the 2 person gathering rule to change to 4 person. Stay tuned for more updates on Hong Kong social distancing rules.
